Initial Goal

Agora Real, a New York-based company managing $200 billion in investments with over 100K investors, needed a website that represented their SaaS application effectively. Their previous WIX-based website lacked editing flexibility, performed poorly, and failed to reflect their dynamic and corporate ethos. Agora sought a robust, high-performance, and modern web solution to match their industry stature and accommodate their growing user base.

Pain Area

Daily Website Updates:Agora’s internal team needed to make frequent changes, requiring a highly dynamic and flexible CMS.
Performance Issues:The website had to handle thousands of concurrent users while maintaining speed and responsiveness.
Rendering Challenges:Building an SEO-friendly React.js-based website was a significant challenge due to its lack of server-side rendering features.

Development Approach

Frontend with React and SASS CSS: Built the SPA frontend using React for speed and interactivity, paired with SASS for modular and maintainable styling.
Backend with Headless WordPress: Developed a custom headless CMS with ACF, providing flexibility for the client to add new pages and content without technical assistance.
Server-Side Rendering with Next.js: Introduced Next.js to the React project for SSR, enabling SEO optimization and faster initial page loads.
KV Storage on Netlify: Replaced traditional MySQL with KV storage for improved data retrieval speed and deployed the site on Netlify for optimal performance.
Collaborative Workflow: Managed the project using Git and a structured agile methodology, ensuring smooth coordination among frontend and backend teams.

Deliverables Outlined

High-Tech Single Page Application: Designed and built a dynamic single-page application (SPA) using React and Next.js to provide a seamless, fast, and visually appealing user experience. The SPA was optimized for high-speed performance while accommodating thousands of concurrent users.

Headless WordPress Backend: Created a custom headless backend with Advanced Custom Fields (ACF), providing flexibility for the client to manage and create content modules efficiently. This approach simplified the process of adding future updates.

Responsive Design Across Devices: Delivered a fully responsive design, tested rigorously across multiple devices and resolutions, ensuring a consistent experience for all users. Special attention was given to interactive features to ensure smooth operation on mobile and desktops.

Optimized Speed and Scalability: Migrated to KV storage on Netlify for faster performance and scalability, reducing page load times to under 0.7 seconds. Extensive load testing confirmed the site could handle over 2,000 users per second, surpassing expectations.

Challenges Faced

SEO Compatibility: React’s lack of SSR capabilities initially made the site less SEO-friendly, impacting search engine visibility.
Page Load Speed: Despite initial optimizations, the site was taking 3–5 seconds to load, far below the client’s expectations.
Concurrent User Handling: The site needed to support more than 50 users per second, a high benchmark requiring extensive optimization and testing.

Solution

Next.js Integration: Implemented Next.js for server-side rendering, resolving the SEO and initial load speed issues. This significantly improved page load times and search engine rankings.
KV Storage: Migrated from MySQL to KV storage, reducing data retrieval times and accelerating load speeds to under 0.7 seconds.
Load Testing and Optimization: Conducted rigorous load testing, confirming the site’s ability to handle 2,000 users per second, far exceeding the original requirement.
Future-Ready CMS: Built modular CMS components with predefined typography and flexible layouts, allowing the client to create new pages independently.
